    Welcome to SLT Communication Courses

SLT Communication Courses has been set up by a Speech and Language Therapist, Patricia Howard-Jones, to organise and provide training for Parents and Professionals who are keen to develop strategies to help people with communication difficulties.

These courses are aimed at helping adults and children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and/or learning difficulties in addition to children who have delayed speech and language skills. Some courses are also aimed at people with social communication challenges.

    NEXT COURSE: 2-Day Social Thinking Conference, June 12th & 13th 2024

We are pleased to announce the return of Michelle Garcia Winner and Dr Pamela Crooke for a 2-day face to face 'Social Thinking' Conference in London!

The Social Thinking® Methodology is designed to teach and support any individual, (adult or child aged 4+) who has unmet social goals but is experiencing lagging social or organisational strategies to meet those goals, regardless of whether the individual has a diagnosis of ADHD, ASD, etc. or those with no diagnosis.

The social world is an enormous and complex place. Teachers, Speech and Language Therapists, clinicians and parents etc. must first gain their own understanding of how the social world works before teaching social emotional learners about it. The Social Thinking Methology relies on both evidence-based and evidence-informed information to teach the social learners about how the social world works. We also believe in the importance of taking time to understand the social learner from their unique perspective. We consider how the individual learns best, what they value, and their social goals. It is only after spending time understanding the social world and the social learner that we begin to tackle strategies for teaching how to work (navigate to regulate) in the social word.
